The Silent Mouse
Why?
I had been told that my mouse was to noisy so I had been thinking of ways to silence the little beggar.
First I attacked the micro switches. I bent the copper strips a little and took some of the pressure off them. This worked to a certain degree.
I then attacked an old Sega Master system controller and proceeded to fit the PCB and buttons into the housing of an old A4 Tech mouse.
It actually works. Silent buttons at last.
Graphics Card Upgrade
I had a few problems with my card overheating.
Its a Radeon 9550e (128 MB).
It was running between 37° and 39°. I kept on getting huge vertical lines or I would lose the screen completely.
I bought a VGA copper cooler kit from my local Dicksmiths store and
fitted it with a bit of modification to the clip. Because of one of the components on the card the holes on the clip did not line up. I just cut one of the tension points off and it then lined up spot on.
I put a couple of heatsinks that came with the kit (8 all up) on the two bigger chips.
I don't know if they will help but its worth a try.
My card is now running between 26° and 29°.
It hasn't caused any more problems. Yet.
Side Panel Fan
I had a spare 80mm fan floating around so I decided to put it on
the side panel of my PC. Its running of the MB so its at a constant speed.
The idea was to help keep the graphics card cool as well as looking good.
